The joy of Green SmoothiesRecently I started having green smoothies almost every day and the lifting of my health and my emotional state was almost instantaneous.... really amazing!! I have to spread the word because I think this can help so many people with so many differing afflictions and there is proof out there that they can help cure so many things. Green smoothies are generally made of fruit, water and green leaves...(spinach, lettuce, kale etc). You cant really taste the green leaves so it just tastes like a yummy fruit smoothie but the benefits of adding leaves is really quite incredible ..and you start craving the taste of chlorophyll after a while and you naturally increase the amount of green leaves. I've always thought that health should be incredibly simple and not require heaps of processing or weird ingredients only made in a lab or found in the forests of Madagascar. This is a whole food that anyone in the world has access to except the blender isn't available to all unfortunately. Here's the theory....the blending breaks the leaves down to molecular level and means your body can digest as much of the goodness as possible. Leaves have so many vitamins, minerals, enzymes and all the amino acids that our body makes protein out of...yes protein from green leaves!!! When you think about it...all the leaf eating mammals make huge amount of protein out of grass...it's good stuff!! Victoria Boutenko kind of invented the green smoothie so if you want to hear the years of research and study that's behind it then check out her website www.rawfamily.com ...it's very inspiring!! Other links worth checking for info and recipe's etc are www.rawpower.com.au and www.greensmoothiechallenge.org My fave.... One orange (peeled preferably!) 2 banana's One thick slice of pineapple 1 cup of water One bunch of parsley or spinach (any edible green leaves really except iceberg lettuce) Ps... you need to change the type of leaves you eat each day because they all have minute amounts of toxins that can build up if you only eat the one type for a while...it's not really a big deal but we're trying to make life easy for our bodies so mixing it up helps!!
