House Concerts

I love house concerts!!

There is an intimacy and a level of communication that is so much easier to access in the environment of the home.... I guess because the people there are already connected and feel comfortable in this environment with each other. Instead of people travelling to a venue to hear the music...I'm taking it to them. It makes more sense really in terms of carbon footprints and the people can create their own venue with the vibes they want.

It can be a backyard barbecue, a garage jam or a lounge room concert...it can be anything really. Some people set up fairy lights and candles and incense and cushions... some people set up a stage in the yard and I had one that was in the local community garden. People love having get-togethers with their family and friends and the music provides an extra dimension for them to enjoy something together and the results can be magical.

I think music is better when it's a sharing rather than a performance and in the house concert setting, the barrier between stage and audience is almost completely dissolved and the ease of communication can be wide open. Traditionally live music was a fully integrated part of the fabric of our social setting and somehow over time we've separated it, put it up on a stage and created a hierarchy of super heroes.

It's nice to pull down these barriers some times and keep it all on a level.
